RShields-2012

I experienced my first toddler photo shoot on April 21, 2012. My friend Stephanie messaged me about photographing her two-year old daughter in her wedding dress. She saw the idea on Pinterest, and Stephanie plans to share these photos with her daughter in the future. 🙂 Thank you for the experience Steph!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!
Spring has sprung, and the flowers are blooming!

[dragonfly]Photography has been traveling, and staying busy with life. We recently took a trip to Phoenix, AZ and loved the weather and the scenery! It was a great experience, and vacation for us to relax and recollect from the past couple of months.

We have booked a photo shoot for April 14, 2012 with a lovely two year old girl. Her mother, who I went to high school with, found an idea on Pinterest of a young girl wearing her mother’s wedding dress, and then showing the picture to her daughter on the day of her wedding.  Super neat idea and I’m super stoked to be asked to experience this. I had never heard of it until she informed me of it :). This may turn into a two part session, because we will be using the backdrop as the ground is still wet from rain, and frost, and she doesn’t want the dress to get ruin. There is potential where we will be doing a later session outdoors. Also,   it may turn into a mother-daughter shoot. Ahh, the possibilities!

We have a wedding booked for September 1, 2012, and we have been anxiously waiting for this event! We are SOOOO excited! I will be making an appointment with the bride to have a hang out, and flesh out more details for her perfect day!

We have plenty of weekends available for events. Please contact through email because we would love to hear from you!

The Hagstroms- Christmas 2011

A week before Christmas I was asked to take Christmas photos. I work with the parents of the Hagstrom Family. They are truly amazing servants! I have never met two hard working individuals, and they have a beautiful family! Thank you for allowing me to take your photos and sharing them with your families for the holidays!

The Netsell’s- Christmas 2011

The first weekend in December brought Tim and I to Woodstock, Illinois to photography my best friend’s parents for their Christmas cards. Tim and I had so much fun. Did you know that Woodstock, Illinois was where “Groundhog Day” was filmed starring Bill Murray? After photographing downtown that following night we watched the movie. Quite hilarious and heartwarming. Ah, the classics. Aaron, Lori and Parker (dog) were such a blast to photograph, and taught me some great lessons when it comes to photographing people.

I am playing catch up on Christmas Night. I had a glorious holiday. There was some heart ache as a beloved pet was hit by a car and passed away the night before Christmas Eve. He wasn’t even able to celebrate his first Christmas with our family, but within the sadness (if you are an animal lover you might understand the pain) we were still able to celebrate with family and bring in the season!

I titled this post because I did a shoot with a client that needs to be private, but I wanted to share at least this edited version of one of my favorite pictures I took on that day.

Some of the new things I learned on this shoot back on November 27, 2011 is how to use a reflector. My boyfriend Tim helped with that, and to use my new background stand that I purchased specifically for this shoot. All of her pictures turned out fantastic!

*watermark is supposed to be there.

Beth and Matt-2011

I grew up with Beth and Matt. They have been good friends for their whole lives, and have been dating for a couple years. Matt finally asked this beautiful funny girl to be his wife, and they are getting married in September 2012!. Beth was the first to look at my photography and ask me to do her wedding. BONU- she asked if my boyfriend, Tim could photograph as well and so I am not alone on this exciting adventure! We offered Beth and Matt engagement pictures since all they wanted was wedding photography.

The pictures were taken in downtown Stoughton, Wisconsin and we were able to take pictures on top of the movie theater roof and at the fire station! It was truly a remarkable and honorable experience. After editing I took a total of 95 photos! Tim has even more than me! I hope everyone enjoys the glimpse of Beth and Matt’s love! I can’t wait for their wedding!

Briana and Jay- 2011

Life been slightly hectic with work and school, but it has been slow in the photography department. Such as it goes right? I did forget to post some pictures from my first real photo shoot at the beginning of October. Briana and Jay were such a lovely couple to photograph. Briana came to me about getting pictures taken because life has been so busy that they forget to take pictures! I was so excited about working with them I could hardly contain myself. Plus they wanted their pictures taken in downtown Madison, and it was truly a gorgeous fall day!

Josh-Senior 2012

Josh was fun to work with! He is a friend of my brothers, and he had no idea what he wanted to do. I was left to do some directing for him, but in the end he was a natural! Thanks a lot Josh for allowing me the opportunity and learn with you!

Bryan-Senior 2012

My baby brother is graduating in June 2012. I had the honor last week of photographing him. He rarely allows himself to be caught on camera, but what he did for me was just awesome! He isn’t much of a baby brother though. He is 17 years old and is about 6 feet tall and has size 17 feet! I am 5’4 and 23 years old, and a lot of people who do not know us, and saw us side by side would think he was MY older brother. Here are his shots!

[dragonfly]Photography!

Welcome! Welcome! WELCOME!

This is the blog for [dragonfly]Photography! I will be posting my photography here, and sharing little stories. My boyfriend who is also an amazing photographer (shameless pitch Timothy Kilkenny Photography) may pop up on here as he helps with sessions with clients. If you are interested in my pricing I will send you information! I am fairly cheap as I am learning, and understanding the “business” but I also do not plan on being too expensive and I want to be reasonable for clients. I understand how things are getting expensive, and I am doing this as a passion/side job, this is not my source of income, so for you that will benefit how much you pay!

Thank you!
